QTIC-Y is Generation Y tourism

The Queensland Tourism Industry Council has developed a new project, named QTIC-Y (www.qtic.com.au/qticy ). QTIC-Y is a Generation Y tourism and hospitality network linking students, employees, entrepreneurs and stakeholders together. 

 

The network has three main objectives:

For too long disgraceful restaurants and shonky food producers have been escaping public scrutiny.

Filthy restaurants and cafes have been fined and the details kept secret from the public. That is all about to change.

Salute to Excellence

It's that time again when we are gearing up for Salute to Excellence. The first committee meeting will be held on the 9th July with the awards nominations and competition opening on 24th July. This year QTIC Skills Link has added a new element to the event by taking on 10 high school students from years 10 - 12 in an adopt a school program with Worklinks LCP. The students will gain experience in Event Management from the planning stage to execution of the event.

Hospitality Skills Tour QTIC Skills Links

The Holiday Inn Brisbane and the Kedron and Wavell Services Club have been working with Tranzitions@Work and 7 north side schools on an adopt a school program to hold its first industry based try a trade. Named the Hospitality Skills Tour, over 170 students experienced hospitality skills in an industry environment.

Attention Cooks - Skills First Scholarships

A pilot initiative of the State Government will provide an incentive for tradespeople and associate professionals to recognise their existing skills and knowledge to gain a formal qualification.

Up to 520 Skills First scholarships will be available to people who enrol in specific Certificate III level and above qualifications at TAFE before 30 June 2007.
