What is Hospitality Crew?

Hi everyone,

People ask me, what is Hospitality Crew?

My usual "elevator speil" is ....... "it is an information and resource site for workers in the hospitality and tourism industry, providing materials and support to empower workers.  Enabling them to increase their skills sets thereby, maximising their employers profits and obtaining better job opportunities and growth.

But that's not all.  It's hard to fit a monolith site into a few words at networking functions or meetings when you have to get around to 50 people in 20 minutes.  At least they give you 3 minutes in speed dating to get your message across.

That being said, Hospitality Crew has been created as an online community to raise the industry profile as a great industry to work in and benefit workers and employers alike.

The idea came up when I wanted to move from full time employment to becoming a contract butler with various catering companies.  The main questions, How do I become a contractor? What is involved? How much do I charge? and Where to I start to find out?

After searching the web there seemed to be endless amount of websites for businesses and employers.  Yet zero for workers outside that of the union sites.  No, we are not a union site.

By good graces, I managed to connect and network with a few independant butlers, whilst being employed with a recruitment company.

Success! after a few months, all questions answered. I was on my way to earning more and doing what I wanted.  However, what about all those other people who wanted the same information? or be it information on other facets of the industry.  Where were they to go?  My thoughts lead me to "Wouldn't it be great if there was a site that actually helped and supported workers to find these questions and more?"

So Hospitality Crew was born.

Our site is FREE for workers.  Everything that you see from training vodcasts to resources is all free.  Our income comes from advertising on our Job Line, Business Partnership support, advertising and sponsorship of our various vodcasts and feature articles.

I hope you like what we are doing with this site, and support us by becoming a member.  Also by tell everyone that you know that works in hospitality and tourism to sign up and support us also.

Over the next few months we will have a gambit of new vodcasts and information being uploaded to the site.

Feel free to check out the site and what we have so far.  You can also blog your profile for potential employers to view or access the forums if you have any questions that you want answered.

We believe that Hospitality Crew will be an important asset to the supporting the industry and by bridging the gap between workers and employers.

We hope you feel the same.

Until next time.  Have a great week.

Nick
