Weekly Review - Aspley Coffee Club

Friday 14th of March - Aspley Coffee Club

The Coffee Club Review - Aspley Amid the general hum of suburbia, tucked away just off a busy main road lies the Aspley coffee club. Now I could have gone to any venue in the city, a flash restaurant with a dazzling waiter, perched in the middle of the daily rush of life, however I wanted to look at somewhere where your everyday person might just pop in for a coffee or to meet with a friend, rather than a place where the special of the day is accompanied with tomorrows stockmarket forecast.

Now this little reviewer, slipped in, lunch partner in tow and sat to observe, we were of course not looking at the food, nor the ambience, our focus here is on the staff, how the staff were out to look after the needs of their customers. It was perhaps of note to begin with that the owners of this establishment allowed their staff to have their own sense of individualistic flare in their appearance, one staff member in particular, had he been working in the city may have raised many an eyebrow. However, hair aside, presentation was perfect, with service to match, although this young man serviced the other side of the room we noted that he was never still, was always moving through his tables, ensuring food was delivered and customers were happy.

We were greeted by the lovely Dee, who for the entirety of our stay was designated to looking after our table and in turn the tables surrounding us. Had she not been looking after us this lovely, attentive and professional waiter would easily have caught our eye. As a waiting professional Dee delivered to standards that those working with her would do well to note. From the other side of the room, with a direct glance, nod and shaking of the head Dee conversed with us, making sure that we were aware that she knew our food was coming and ensuring that we were being looked after should we need anything. This attentiveness was clear with her other customers, she moved with ease and professional from one table to the next, delivering meals, clearing tables and never entering or leaving her service area empty handed. Her gentle attentive nature, coupled with her strong industry skills make Dee an asset to any employer.

Aspley Coffee Club Service Standards – 7/10

While there were standout employees, some areas to note for other staff members were knowledge of customers orders, clearing a customer’s cutlery before they have eaten can make them feel as though they have been forgotten. Although one may think that their feet are the last thing a customer may notice, it does stand out if the end of your pants or your shoes are not of the same standard as the rest of your uniform, a professional appearance can often be the key to a standout employee.

Individual Staff Service Excellence – Dee – 10/10

As previously noted Dee is an asset to this company and does an excellent job to ensure the comfort of all her customers.
