The main thing is to have the passion and interest for this industry. Theres always positives and negatives in each job which you take on, doesn't matter which industry. It's an industry which, you know, every day is different its not a routine job. You come into work and you can prepare yourself but with the guests requests its always going to be something else.

This is a great industry for those people that have no experience. If your just starting in this industry. It's one of those few industries that whether you come through the work environment or the educational environment you can get a job here, and it comes down to wanting the job. Wanting to work in the industry, but knowing what you want out of the job. So no matter what job your going to take on, where's it going to lead you?. What's your next step? So having a long term plan and using different parts to achieve those goals you set yourself. The industry itself embraces many people, all age groups. In our hotel we have people from 17 to 71. So, I say don't hold back, find out about the business, enquire about the jobs, learn a little bit, then apply for them and go from there. Let the company take you were you want to go.
I think being able to improvise, think on your feet, I think that pretty much covers it all.

I think for a very long time people said that there wasn't a career or a future in working in hospitality. A lot of people have seen it as a means to an end, while your studying at university. The reality is that there are very good futures in hospitality. My personal believe is that once you work in tourism and hospitality you can work anywhere.
