People ask me, what is Hospitality Crew?

My usual "elevator speil" is ....... "it is an information and resource site for workers in the hospitality and tourism industry, providing materials and support to empower workers.  Enabling them to increase their skills sets thereby, maximising their employers profits and obtaining better job opportunities and growth.

But that's not all.  It's hard to fit a monolith site into a few words at networking functions or meetings when you have to get around to 50 people in 20 minutes.  At least they give you 3 minutes in speed dating to get your message across.

That being said, Hospitality Crew has been created as an online community to raise the industry profile as a great industry to work in and benefit workers and employers alike.

One feature that all our visitors are simply going to fall in love with is the ability to remotely post their blog items.

What's Remote Blogging?

Well, instead of logging into the site, navigating to your Blog area and going through all the web interface to post, their are a pile of software utilities that will allow you to compose your snippet offline and once you're ready to post, the software will log into Hospitality Crew for you and send us your post. Now that's so convenient and quick.

We decided to reinvent the Hospitality Crew site due to a number of new innovative ideas we want to put into play to really help the industry.

One of these requires a reasonably granular permissions system in the site's infrastructure. The previous site was built on the Joomla CMS system - a big failing here is the rigid user permissions system so we had to make some tough decisions about what to do with the site, moving forward. Being the site's Web Admin, I made the choice to convert the site to the Drupal CMS which looked absolutely brilliant as far as functionality goes.
